Deciding on something nice to wear every morning can feel like a chore if you’re a busy mama. You have your routine to think about, your need for comfort, and also your desire to look effortlessly chic. You need some easy go-to outfits that won’t fail you.
But instead, you might look at the items in your wardrobe and feel frustrated by the lack of inspiration to put outfits together.
In my last fashion post for moms, I covered some basic summer wardrobe items that can transition easily for use in your fall wardrobe. Today I’m providing you with 5 easy “outfit formulas” that you can use again and again to create cute but comfortable fall looks that are mom-friendly.

Outfit Formulas for 5 Easy Mom Outfits This Fall
#1 Long Sleeve Tee + Jeans + Utility Vest + Leopard Flats
A solid colored long sleeve tee will constantly afford a basic layering piece for your outfits. It’s worth finding one or two that fit you well. Add a utility vest or jacket for fashion and leopard flats for comfort that also nods at fall.
Additional options: Wear the jeans that flatter you, whether that’s straight jeans, boot-cut, or skinny. Swap out flats for white sneakers, slip-ons, or boots. Swap vest for a plaid scarf.
#2 Cotton Dress + Denim Jacket + Riding Boots
The dress should be comfy and a bit thicker than a summer cotton dress. Jersey material is my favorite when it comes to basic dresses. They offer ultimate comfort and can be dressed up or down. Add a denim jacket for a cute layer of warmth. Riding boots create a classic fall feel.
Additional options: Add a scarf or pendant necklace. Swap riding boots for ankle booties for a more sophisticated look.
#3 Plaid Button-Down Shirt + Jeans + Scarf + Slip-Ons
Plaid tops can be worn over simple dresses and tees, tied around the waist or shoulders or worn straight up with jeans. Add a scarf for warmth and to add some additional interest to your outfit.
A common fashion faux pax moms commit is crashing their otherwise cute outfit with running sneakers. Athletic shoes do offer ultimate comfort, but there are equally comfortable alternatives that complement outfits rather than bringing them down. Try some canvas sneakers or slip-ons like the ones pictured below.
Additional options: Add a belt to your shirt just below the bustline or wear it open over a white tee. Swap slip-ons out for ballet flats or boots.
#4 Striped Tee + Black Skinny Jeans + Riding Boots
A striped tee is both a classic and trending item… a perfect combination for your wardrobe if you like the style personally. Black skinny jeans (or non-denim pants) contrast well with cognac riding boots for a pop of fall in this outfit formula.
Additional options: Swap black skinnies for white ones. Add a scarf or jewelry like a simple gold chain or bangles.
#5 Sweater + Boyfriend Jeans + Slip-Ons + Scarf
This outfit is perfect for those fall days that start and end cool but offer ample sunshine during the day. The cuffed boyfriend jeans keep things cool and the scarf offers an extra layer of warmth as needed throughout the day.
Additional options: Add a puffer vest. Swap boyfriend jeans for full-length pants and boots.
