If you have not heard of Rita’s Backyard, as I refer to it, you are missing out on this gem in Fishers. We had the chance to go to the Superhero Tea event, one of the many new events at The Tea Room. Now, when you think of superhero and tea, they aren’t a combo that naturally fits, however, Rita’s Backyard definitely makes it work.
Walking in to this Superhero Tea, the atmosphere was not overwhelming.
They had a special guest join the kids for the event, Thor. The kids were filled with excitement when they him. To the kids, having Thor being there was a great highlight. Thor interacted with kids. He sat down at each table, had a conversation with each kid and took pictures.
As a mom, I loved that. Let me tell you that Thor knew his stuff (he was quizzed a few times by the kids) and played his role very well.
The kids had a chance to do a craft, play games with Thor such as superhero training, and Thor threw in some lessons about manners and mathematics. In addition to Thor being guest of honor, the kids got a chance meet an everyday hero, a firefighter. Firefighter Mike was a great addition to showing kids how firefighters help save lives and protect people with not necessarily superpowers, but they their gear and training. He talked about how their transformation from regular clothes to all the fire gear they wear.
The food was cute and delicious. Not a lot of junk that will leave your kids bouncing off the walls, but something that was good and definitely went with the theme of all things superhero.
I loved this event for my son. If you have daughters that love superheroes, this event works at nicely (There was this girl there who was adorable and put Thor to the test. Girl power!) I loved the entertainment, the knowledge gained from both Thor and Firefighter Mike, and the food was delicious.
Now, I know this is a mom review, but I think the best review comes from the kids. Would they love to do this again? In the words of my son, “This was awesome!”
